Selection of Scholarship Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected according to the desire of the scholarship sponsor. Some sponsoring individuals or organizations may choose scholarship recipients themselves while others may designate the EAHS Scholarship Committee to select recipients for them. The committee, composed of EASD faculty and supported by a representative from the EAHS Scholarship Foundation, reviews all applications for each scholarship and selects the most qualified student to receive the award.
Please note: In order for a student to be eligible for scholarships sponsored through or by the District, they must be a resident student or have been open enrolled for the last six trimesters in the Elkhorn Area School District before graduating from Elkhorn Area School District. This includes the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Higher Education Scholarship (EASD Board Policy 460 - Student Scholarships).

Payment of Scholarship Monies
If you receive a scholarship at Honors Night, you will receive directions on who to contact in order to collect your award. Most monies will be available in mid-August, so that you will have plenty of time to provide proof of your registration to your post-secondary program. You will also be given contact information for whom you should thank for your award. We live in a VERY generous community and appreciate the support of our scholarship sponsors. Their continued support is crucial to the future success of this program and we are hopeful that you express your gratitude for the scholarship they have awarded you with.
If you receive a scholarship and later change either your major or your entire post-secondary plan, please immediately notify your scholarship sponsor AND William Trewyn at the Elkhorn Area School District Administrative Office.
Scholarship recipients may also have the opportunity to delay receipt of scholarship monies. Scholarship monies that are managed by the EAHS Scholarship Foundation can be placed in an escrow account in the name of the recipient. At which time the recipient chooses to access escrowed scholarship monies, only those monies designated in the original award are eligible to be received. Scholarship monies placed in an escrow account will be subject to the following timelines:
Income generated from monies placed in escrow will be retained by the Elkhorn Area High School Scholarship Foundation. Any scholarship monies unclaimed for these or any other reason will be reclaimed by the Elkhorn Area High School Scholarship Foundation.
The Elkhorn Area High School Scholarship Foundation reserves the right to distribute scholarship money and make adjustments to funds as needed.
